Designed by architect Robert Earl Crippen 1922-2004. The Marlette was built in Tahoe Donner and the Tahoe basin from the 70’s to the early 90’s. There are hundreds of examples!
The purpose of the website…
I started this site to help preserve the history of the Marlette house created by Robert Crippen. I purchased my example in Tahoe Donner in the spring of 21’ and found very little information about the house and its history. Tahoe Donner, the largest HOA in the United States has more than 100 examples of the house which qualifies it for the history books.
Personally I think the design is spectacular with its modest footprint, dramatic great-room windows, open floor-plan, exposed beams and efficient use of space. With help from neighbors and fellow owners of a Marlette, I was able to connect with James (Jim) Crippen, the son of Robert Crippen who is currently a practicing architect in Reno, NV. He was gracious in providing the architectural drawings featured on the site.
